Eachros Beag
A beautiful project with much potential in Ireland's rural West Coast, Eachros Beag is situated between a lake and the sea, in an area where I spent many teenage summer days.
The original rectangular stone-walled cottage appears on the first Ordnance Survey maps dating back to 1830, but it is hard to say precisely how old the bones of this house are. It is a home that has been passed down for generations, and sometime in the mid-1900s, an extension was added to the rear of the house, resulting in today's T-shape.
The family are currently exploring ways to renovate the house so it can function as a holiday home for years to come. Their primary concern is having enough bedrooms/bathrooms, as well as intimate family spaces, to gather in both winter and summer.
